Bringing The Ocean To Life: Thank you for visiting my site and allowing me the opportunity to share my personal images, videos, and stories with you. I travel frequently throughout the world to engage in conservation efforts or simply to continue exploring what the amazing marine world has to offer.  Hopefully in the process I awaken the advocate within you that champions change in your own selfless way.

Check out my blog Camera Meets A Shark to read stories, spotlights, trip reports, and other literature—along with photos and videos—inspired by the ocean herself.  Or continue scrolling below to read more about my favorite focus areas, including sharks and rays.

Flower Garden Banks - Sep 2023

My latest blog entry is a short video of our first trip to the Flower Garden Banks in the Gulf of Mexico.  Seemingly endless and pristine coral formations, along with copious marine life (reef fish, barracuda, eels, etc.), made for an amazing weekend getaway so close to home (Texas).

Sharks

Making up half of my site’s namesake, this oceanic species enthralls me every time I lay eyes on one—actually, preferably more than one at a time. While the ocean boasts many magnificent creatures, each with its own story and endearing quality, it’s the shark that keeps me yearning for more bottom time in the water. It doesn’t matter if it’s a docile nurse shark, or a great hammerhead, I never take for granted the opportunity to learn more about sharks. Ever since I first laid eyes on one (a great white no less) during a training dive in the 1990s, I’ve obsessed over this misunderstood creature, traveling as often as I can to partake in both conservational and recreational opportunities to get face-to-face with the apex predator of the ocean. Rays

While sharks own my heart, rays are definitely my next favorite oceanic creature. Ranging from harmless to deadly, plain to fancy, and small to enormous, rays are exceptional and magical encounters, often providing beautiful photo and video opportunities—not to mention memorable moments. Click on the button below to learn more about my favorite rays, along with the stories and photos/videos that provide the sound and visual tracks to my fortunate encounters worldwide.
